Holding On And Trusting

Have you ever noticed how faithful and trustworthy God really is? Or how he always secures his people, his chosen people? Or how about how he always keeps his word and promises? The reason I pose these questions is because I began thinking about how God always keeps his word all throughout scripture. All the way through scripture from beginning to end God keeps his word and promises. And also because as humans we fail at keeping our word at times. To put it plainly sometimes we miss the mark. If you think about it, God steadfastly gave his chosen people the Israelite's

what he promised them and even gave them what they wanted at times, which was not beneficial to them every time. Yet God kept his promises and faithfully saved his people; even when they failed, when they wandered, or when they lost their way. So over and over God proves himself trustworthy, even if we as human beings cannot see it completely from our limited perspective compared to his unlimited perspective. However, as human beings we fail at trusting God sometimes, because we cannot see the complete assurance of stepping out in faith. We cannot see the entire picture because we are only human. So why is it we struggle with trusting God at times, when He is so faithful and trustworthy? Is it because we want complete assurance of everything ? Or is it because we want control? What if it’s because we want to be self-reliant, instead of relying on God and trusting him?Is it because we sometimes say, “oh God I got this, I can handle this one.” When in reality we really do need him to save us from ourselves, from our pride or selfishness. It is kind of like this one time I was at a gas station and this lady pulled in with her minivan and all the kids she had with her. So one little boy gets out of the van and starts to wash the windows for his mom while she pumped gas into the car. And while he's washing the windows another kid in the car is opening and closing the door of the window the boy is washing. The point to the story is sometimes we’re like the little boy in the story trying to wash the windows or do everything ourselves when we need to step back and realize we need to rely on God’s help. In all honesty trusting God means to rely on him for everything and believing he will come through. It also means to, have a complete conviction or confidence that his word is true. In Isaiah It talks about the nation of Israel and how God has chosen them, and how he secures his people. It says, “But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham, my friend: and called from its farthest corners, saying to you, “you are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off” fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”(Isaiah 41:8-10ESV). So therefore, trusting God should be easy and not complicated right? Well, it is easy I just believe we as human beings and Christians make it harder then it really is. Thus, if God is for me then waiting should not be hard either. If he is with me, and will help me, I should not be dismayed or afraid of what is to come. So is there anything your afraid to trust God with or embrace his love with? Is there anything you're holding onto that needs to be laid before the feet of Jesus.
