So I’ve been pouring over this blog post for the past couple of days, and I hope it encourages you to the point that you see being known by God is exciting. So have you ever thought about how being known is something we long for on this earth. It is something we crave and desire. For example it is something we desire in every aspect of our lives, not just in our daily relationships with fellow Christians and believers, but also in our relationship with God. We long to be known by God, and we want to know God. Basically, we long to be so known that there is no mistaking there is no one else like us. Meaning that we are one of a kind. That is exactly how God knows and sees us. However, at times our loyalty to God fails or falls short, because we are human. As human beings we can be selfish at times. Just like the Israelite's fell short many times over and over again. But God still loved his people. In Isaiah it talks about God’s chosen people and his love for them. It says, “You are my witnesses, declares the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no savior.”(Isaiah 43:10-11ESV). Moreover, this verse reminds us that God wants us to know Him. He wants us to know his love, his character, his faithfulness, but most of all to know Him as a good loving God who remains steadfast to those who know him. Yet God’s love still astounds me, in how he remains faithful to us. His love puts me in awe, because of how He knows us right down to the nitty gritty. But more importantly in how he knows me. In particularly, in how God knows my every thought, my every word, my every longing, my every desire. He knows it all and nothing gets past him. He knows the good and the bad. He knows my heart and still loves me despite it all. Most importantly he's like the best friend that I can tell him anything even my secrets and he’ll still be there. God’s like the friend you have in life that when you call or are just with even over a camp fire talking he’ll be the one who stand by you no matter what. In other words He is not afraid to push past the messiness of sin that can hinder us, because he knows every aspect of us. In Psalm 139 it talks about how David is known by God. It says, “You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you known it altogether.”(Psalm139:1-4ESV). The point is there is no fooling God, because he knows us all to well. Which means, he knows what we long for, and what we desire, but most of all he knows what we need above all else. So if God knows us so well then he must be trustworthy, because as human beings we tend to trust those who know us well. For instance the friends we surround ourselves with know us well to the point they could predict what we like or want. Which can relate to how well God knows us, only when we are known by Him, he knows us to the point that no one else can compare. Now I admit being known by a Holy God can be intimidating at times, because he is completely perfect. However, we do not have to be intimidated, in that we are made perfect through Christ and known by God. To be completely transparent, knowing that I am known by God puts me at ease because I do not have to worry about not being known or ignored. In 1 Corinthians it says, “But if anyone loves God, he is known by God.”(1 Corinthians 8:3ESV). Obviously, resting in being known by God, gives us peace to rest in the fact that God is faithful no matter what. This should excite us that we are known by God. The reason it should excite us is because, he sees us. We are not invisible to Him, but truly seen and loved. Thus, we do not have to fight for attention or perform to be seen. Instead He sees our heart and knows our intentions. He does not reject us but embraces us, because he has chosen us. So take joy in the fact that you are seen, known, and loved by God.
