In the past, I have found a fresh filling with the Holy Spirit intimidating. That was before I experienced a renewed filling with the Holy Spirit.
Once you experience Jesus and encounter His lavish love, everything changes.
When we become transformed by the Holy Spirit to be more like Jesus. A fresh wind of the Holy Spirit is like a great boldness that comes over us to keep moving forward. Encountering Jesus and the Holy Spirit, we become more holy and let go of who we were to step into who God has called us to be.
Reflecting on Pentecost last Sunday reminds me how when the Holy Spirit falls on us, we gain a renewed strength to share our testimonies. We are filled with a sudden mighty strength from the Holy Spirit to speak the truth of God's word. It is where we can pour out to others because God has filled us with His love through the work of the Holy Spirit.
If we do not have a fresh filling from the Holy Spirit, where He pours out a renewed love on our hearts, we will not be able to pour into others. We must have a fresh filling to pour into others.
When we have a fresh filling from the Holy Spirit, we can walk in the light of His Spirit to lead us into all truth.
I think we forget how powerful being filled by the Holy Spirit can be. And I think we lose sight of how powerful prayer is and how it changes things. When I was reading in Acts 4:31,
"And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness." Acts 4:31 ESV
I began to see it in a new light of how powerful a fresh wind of the Holy Spirit can light a fire in us to pour into others around us who need to be encouraged with God's love. It reminded me how important it is to seek God and the Holy Spirit for wisdom is.
As the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit, they continued to speak the truth with boldness. They did not stop and, did they back down from sharing the truth. So they could pour into others around them to share the gospel.
What is stopping you from being freshly filled or bold for Jesus?
